If you’re thinking about moving to Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, there’s a good chance the public schools are already somewhere on your radar. In fact, schools are one of the topics that comes up most often when I work with families relocating to Mt. Juliet from another state.
Mt. Juliet is served by Wilson County Schools, and several local schools receive strong marks from third-party school resources such as Niche. But there’s something that’s even more important for homebuyers to understand: where you buy can determine where your children attend school.
That’s why I recommend thinking about schools and neighborhoods together rather than finding the perfect house first and researching the school afterward.
Let’s look at what you should know before beginning your Mt. Juliet home search.
Why Schools Are a Big Part of Moving to Mt. Juliet
There are plenty of reasons people consider Mt. Juliet—the proximity to Nashville, BNA Airport, newer neighborhoods, shopping, parks, and overall lifestyle—but for many families I work with, Wilson County Schools are an important part of the conversation.
Looking at Niche’s 2026 rankings gives you an idea of why. Multiple Mt. Juliet-area elementary schools receive an overall A grade, including Springdale Elementary, Rutland Elementary, Mt. Juliet Elementary and others. Niche says its rankings incorporate factors including state test scores, student-teacher ratios, teacher quality, diversity, reviews, and overall district quality.
Of course, rankings shouldn’t be the only thing you consider when choosing a school. Every child and family is different. But if public schools are an important part of your relocation decision, Mt. Juliet gives you several options worth researching.
Elementary Schools in Mt. Juliet
Mt. Juliet has several public elementary schools within the Wilson County school system, and school attendance zones vary depending on where you live.
Two that relocation buyers frequently ask about are Springdale Elementary School and Rutland Elementary School.
Springdale Elementary School
Springdale Elementary is a public PK–5 school in Mt. Juliet and currently receives an A overall grade from Niche. For 2026, Niche ranks Springdale #1 among public elementary schools in Wilson County and #58 among more than 1,000 public elementary schools ranked across Tennessee.
For buyers, however, the important part isn’t simply knowing that Springdale receives strong ratings.
It’s knowing which neighborhoods and addresses are currently zoned for Springdale.
That’s where planning your home search around school zones can save you a tremendous amount of time—especially if you’re trying to relocate to Mt. Juliet from hundreds of miles away.
Rutland Elementary School
Rutland Elementary is another highly rated Wilson County public school serving grades PK–5. Niche currently gives Rutland an A overall grade and ranks it #4 among public elementary schools in Wilson County and #67 statewide for 2026.
Niche reports approximately 1,371 students and a 17:1 student-teacher ratio. Its reported state testing data shows 74% of students at or above proficiency in math and 66% in reading.
Again, those numbers are useful research points, but they’re only part of the picture. I always encourage buyers to research the individual schools themselves and then look carefully at the neighborhoods and housing options within the attendance zones they’re considering.
High Schools in Mt. Juliet: Green Hill vs. Mt. Juliet High School
At the high-school level, two names you’ll hear frequently when looking at homes in Mt. Juliet are Green Hill High School and Mt. Juliet High School.
This is also where understanding the geography of Mt. Juliet becomes particularly useful.
Green Hill High School
Green Hill High School serves grades 9–12 on the north side of Mt. Juliet. Niche currently gives Green Hill an A- overall grade and ranks it #1 among public high schools in Wilson County for 2026. It also ranks #42 among 376 public high schools statewide in Niche’s current rankings.
Niche reports a 96% graduation rate and state testing proficiency figures of 63% in reading and 49% in math.
If Green Hill is a school you’re specifically interested in researching, that can help narrow your home search toward neighborhoods currently located within its attendance zone.
Mt. Juliet High School
Mt. Juliet High School is another highly rated public high school serving the area. Niche currently gives Mt. Juliet High an A- overall grade and ranks it #2 among public high schools in Wilson County and #49 among public high schools statewide for 2026.
The school is located along Golden Bear Gateway, an area that has experienced significant residential and commercial growth.

Don’t Choose a House First and Research the School Later
This is probably the biggest piece of advice I can give relocation buyers when schools are an important part of their move.
A lot of people search for homes like this:
Find a house they love → look at the listing → check which school it’s zoned for.
I’d rather reverse that process.
If you’ve already researched the schools and know which attendance zones you want to explore, we can identify the neighborhoods that currently feed those schools first.
Then your home search becomes:
Research schools → identify school zones → identify neighborhoods → search for homes within those areas.
Instead of sorting through hundreds of homes across Mt. Juliet, you’re focusing your search on the communities that actually fit what you’ve already decided matters to you.
That’s especially helpful for buyers relocating from out of state who may only have a weekend or two to tour homes in person

School Zones Can Change as Mt. Juliet Grows
There’s one important caveat: never assume a home’s school assignment based solely on the neighborhood name, an old listing, or what someone tells you online.
Mt. Juliet and Wilson County continue to grow, and attendance zones can change as new schools open, enrollment changes, and the district adjusts boundaries.
Before purchasing a home, buyers should verify the current school assignment for the specific property address directly with Wilson County Schools.
That’s also why I don’t like telling someone, “Buy in Neighborhood X because it goes to School Y.” We can use current zoning information to make your search much more efficient, but the district—not a Realtor or real estate website—is the authoritative source for attendance assignments.
How Should You Research Mt. Juliet Schools?
Online rankings are a useful starting point, not the finish line.
Niche, for example, says its rankings incorporate multiple data points and reviews rather than relying on a single test score. But what’s important to one family may be completely different from what’s important to another.
Look beyond the overall number or letter grade. Research academics, programs, extracurricular activities, athletics, school size, transportation, and anything else that’s particularly important for your children.
And when possible, visit the schools or speak directly with the district.
My role as your Realtor isn’t to tell you which school is “best.” It’s to help you understand how your housing options and the school attendance zones you’re researching fit together.
